Condoleezza Rice: The President’s Point Woman on Security

When Condoleezza Rice was appointed National Security Advisor, the major criticism was that she was too “Europeanist.” Rice was a veteran of the Cold War, and some argued that her experience was lacking when it came to Asia and the Middle East. But over the past five months, Rice has received a crash course in Middle East politics. She is a key player in the War on Terror, and some suspect that her Cold War experience has made her one of the more hawkish members of the Cabinet. This hour, in our ongoing series profiling the movers and shakers in the War on Terror, we examine the role of National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice.

Guests:

Evan Thomas, editor of Newsweek Magazine

Judith Kipper, Director of the Middle East Forum at the Center for Foreign Relations
