The Middle East: History Repeats
photo

Violence intensifies again in the Mideast, the worst of it coming on Sunday with a suicide bomb on a bus that killed at least nine people. Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack and for the cafeteria bombing at Hebrew University last week.

The Israeli Army blew up nine houses of families of past bombers and has intensified the search for bomb factories and wanted Palestinians.

With the cycle of violence worsening, hope for a peaceful solution is fading. In this hour, a hard look at why efforts for peace are missing the mark. What is it about this conflict that keeps history repeating itself? Is there a way to stop it?

Guests:

Tom Segev, columnist for Israeli newspaper, Ha’aretz and author of “One Palestine, Complete: Jews and Arabs under the British Mandate”;
Ambassador Dennis Ross, Distinguished Fellow at The Washington Instiute for Near East Policy, and the key US point person for the Middle East Peace Process in both the first Bush and Clinton administrations

Mohammed Abu Nimer, professor at American University, specializing in peace and conflict resolution
