Over the past year, a number of Arab and Muslim comedians have sprung up on stages across the country, capitalizing on the public’s increased awareness of their religion and culture. Jokes about burkas, the Taliban and racial profiling are being used to puncture stereotypes, tackle hate and ease tensions.
