Living a Life That Matters

Everyone wants to feel important. To have people know your name, know your ideas, know you. But in today’s world, it’s easy to feel you’re nothing more than a number on a spreadsheet, a faceless body in the crowd.

Still, our guest tonight says, each person has the ability to do great things. Every single person has the ability to change the world, for the better. Each individual can live a life that matters.

But how?

It’s easy to lose sight of our own significance, Rabbi Kushner warns. Today, we find ourselves in so many circumstances that seem to proclaim our insignificance to the world’s workings, our minuteness in the global machine.

Rabbi Kushner says, we all need to feel important, to feel that we matter to the world. And, even in this post-September 11th-world, he promises, we do.

Tonight, On Point: Living a life that matters with Rabbi Harold Kushner.

How do you find your path to a life that matters? Have your goals changed, this year? Do you find yourself lost in the hugeness of the world, lost in the search for your significance?

Guests:

Harold Kushner, Rabbi Laureate of Temple Israel in Natick, Massachusetts and author of several books, including “When Bad Things Happen to Good People,” “Who Needs God” and his latest book, “Living a Life That Matters.”
