“Predators of the twenty-first century will be all the more lethal if we allow them to build arsenals of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons and the missiles to deliver them. … There is no more clear example of this threat than Saddam Hussein’s Iraq.”

Familiar words. Unfamiliar messenger. The quote belongs to Bill Clinton, the former President who had a decidedly hawkish stance on Iraq. There’s a new regime singing that tune in the White House now, but, says The New Republic’s Jonathan Chait, there’s no good reason for liberals not to sing along.
