SOS for SEX

“Sexless marriages are an undeniable epidemic,” says TV’s Dr. Phil. The latest numbers show more than 40 million Americans are mired in low-sex or no-sex marriages.

Marriage has changed. In the old days, the husband was the breadwinner and wives had the expectation of raising children and pleasing their husbands. That idea has gone out the window, along with the frying pan.

Tv’s Dr. Phil calls it an epidemic. New York magazine ran a piece “Generation Sexless.” Behind therapist doors, couples are looking for help.

What’s going on here? Are sexless marriages a symptom of a culture that’s spinning too fast and furiously? What are the solutions?

Guests:

Caitlin Flanagan, contributing editor at the Atlantic Monthly magazine, her story ” “The Wifely Duty” appears in the January/February issue of the magazine

Michele Weiner Davis, marital therapist and author of new book “The Sex-Starved Marriage: A Couple’s Guide to Boosting Their Marriage Libido;”

Christopher Hill: U.S. Troop Withdrawal ‘On Schedule’

U.S. Ambassaor to Iraq Christopher Hill spoke with On Point live from Baghdad today as early voting gets underway, part of the run-up to Sunday’s elections. “So far so good,” Hill said, despite scattered violence. Hill said that the plan to withdraw U.S. combat troops by Sept. 1, and to leave only a residual advisory force of 50,000 or fewer, remains “very much on schedule.” Observers worry that a spike in violence could derail that timeline.
