When We Were Wired
photo

The tech boom and bust has come and gone, but what about the ideals that drove the tech revolution? No single figure did more to shape how the public perceived the movement than Louis Rossetto, founder and editor of Wired Magazine. Author and Insider Gary Wolf reveals the man who helped spark a revolution. Rossetto’s deep belief in the transformative power of technology was forged during years of travel through some of the world’s troubled hot-spots. According to the Wired Manifesto, technology would soon render politics as we know it obsolete. Chaos and connectivity were the ingredients for a global meritocracy that would not be confined by borders or centralized government. So what happened? Has the loss of market confidence destroyed the hopes of libertarian technophiles?

Guests:

Gary Wolf, author of Wired, A Romance and former Executive Editor of “HotWired”, the magazine’s online initiative.
