Utah Governor Nominated to Head EPA
photo

Christine Todd Whitman was criticized on both flanks for her actions as head of the Environmental Protection Agency, so there may be a new Sheriff in town. George Bush has nominated Utah Governor Mike Leavitt to succeed Whitman.

According to the president, Leavitt “respects the ability of state and local governments” and “rejects the old ways of command and control from above”. Some point to such statements as evidence that the republicans are taking off the gloves on the environmental issue.

Guests:

Kent Portney, Professor of Political Science and Environmental Policy at Tufts University

Terry Anderson, Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institute and Executive Director of the Political Economic Research Center

Doug Fabrizio of KUER-FM in Salt Lake City
