America and the Dalai Lama
photo

When he first visited the United States in 1978, after trying to get a visa for almost twenty years, his supporters had a hard time getting anyone to even interview him. Now, Tibet’s Dalai Lama is packing stadiums and filling Central Park in New York City.

America’s fascination with the Dalai Lama and his friendly brand of Buddhism and compassion is at an all-time high. Sold-out crowds want to know what Tibet’s God-king thinks about life, work and even America’s war in Iraq.

Click the “Listen” link to hear about America’s fascination with the Dalai Lama and what it says about American spirituality.

Guests:

Jeffery Paine, author of “Re-enchantment, Tibetan Buddhism Comes to the West”

Frank Berliner, Professor of contemplative psychology and religion at Naropa University

Howard Cutler, Co-author with the Dalai Lama, of “The Art of Happiness at Work”
