Analysis of Pakistan’s Gen. Musharraf’s U.N. Speech

U.S. President Bush’s plea for international support for the policing and reconstruction of Iraq has largely fallen on deaf ears at the United Nations. Even one of his key allies in the War on Terror today gave the idea of sending troops only lukewarm support.

Pakistan’s President General Pervez Musharraf took his turn addressing the U.N. General Assembly today. He criticized India over the Kashmir standoff, and said his country is doing everything it can to combat terrorism.

Musharraf also said he would consider committing troops only if other Muslim nations joined a U.N.-sanctioned force in Iraq. That could take months to hammer out, and so far other Muslim nations have not been eager to send soldiers.

On Point news analyst Jack Beatty comments on Musharraf’s U.N. speech.
