
Four days before the second anniversary of 9/11 and four months after the official end of “major combat operations” in Iraq, President Bush, in a speech to the nation last night, reasserted the U.S. commitment in Iraq and the need for international cooperation through the United Nations.
U.N. backers said it was about time. But neo-conservatives in Washington are still arguing that the United States should handle Iraq itself.
