Imam Siraj Wahhaj and Islam in America

He’s one of the most revered leaders in America’s Muslim communities. He was the first Muslim to lead a prayer before the start of a session of Congress. Madeleine Albright hosted him at the State House. Now, the controversial Imam speaks out on why he believes American democracy will crumble and be replaced by Islamic law.

Imam Siraj Wahhaj, one of the most prominent leaders
in America’s Muslim communities. He is Imam of the Masjid At-Taqwa mosque in Brooklyn, New York and a board member of the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Islamic Society of North America. He heads the Muslim Alliance of North America. He was the first-ever Muslim to lead a prayer before the start of a session of the House of Representatives. He gained national recognition for leading a successful anti-drug campaign in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn in the 1980s.
