Former White House counter-terrorism coordinator Richard Clarke testified today before the 9/11 commission in Washington, following appearances by CIA Director George Tenet and Clinton’s National Security Advisor Sandy Berger.
Clarke’s testimony was the most anticipated and controversial in two days of public hearings by the bipartisan, 10-member national commission on terrorist attacks upon the United States. His testimony followed the release of a book in which he accuses the current administration of not doing enough to prevent the 9/11 attacks, and of focusing on Iraq to the detriment of the “war on terror.”
