Kenyans’ Rule of the Boston Marathon

The Kenyans continued their domination of the prestigious Boston Marathon today, sweeping the top 4 spots on the men’s side and winning the women’s side for the 4th time in the past 5 years. The top American man finished 13th and the top American woman 16th.

The utter dominance of Kenyan marathoners over the past decade has been remarkable. Journalist John Manners has tracked the rise of Kenya’s running empire. In this radio diary, he explains why a small, poor African nation has been able to rule the sport of running.
