Remembering Bruce Edwards

A week ago, the sport of golf lost one of its unheralded heroes with the passing of Bruce Edwards, from Lou Gehrig’s disease, at the age of 49. Edwards had served as caddy for one of the game’s greats, Tom Watson, for the better part of three decades. The story of their friendship captured the nation’s attention last year, when Watson took the early lead in the U.S. Open, with a slowly-dying Edwards carrying his bag.

In this radio diary, sportswriter John Feinstein reads a passage from his latest book, “Caddy for Life: The Bruce Edwards Story.”
