Subsidizing Parenthood
photo

Anne Alstott, professor of law at Yale University, is also a mother to four-year-old twins. She is experiencing the joys of parenthood but she also knows the burden of being a parent in America today.

Alstott argues that stripped-back social support makes childrearing harder and that’s not fair. American parents need help to lighten the load, and the kind of help she proposes is five thousand dollars per year, per family.

Click the “Listen” link to hear about subsidizing parenthood and what society owes American parents.

Guests:

Anne Alstott, professor of law at Yale University, author of “No Exit: What Parents Owe Their Children and What Society Owes Parents”

Richard A. Epstein, professor of law at the University of Chicago, senior fellow at the Hoover Institution
