American Hustler
photo

When historians paint the United States in its greatest glory, they conjure up the image of the shining city on a hill. But Pulitzer-Prize winning historian Walter McDougall sees a nation of hustlers in that city.

In a new book, Walter McDougall says that a history of hustling gave America, from the moment of its inception, a great and hungry heart. Thus, America was not just born of revolution — it is one, and it hustles.

Click the “Listen” link to hear Walter McDougall talk about America — the hustler, and his new look at the history of the United States.

Guests:

Walter A. McDougall, Pulitzer Prize winning professor of history at the University of Pennsylvania, author of “Freedom Just Around the Corner: A New American History.”
