The “National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States,” better known as the 9-11 Commission, began its final round of public hearings this morning. Scheduled to last through tomorrow, the hearings are focusing specifically on the 9-11 plot and the federal government’s initial response to the attacks.
Hours of testimony by FBI intelligence agents revealed details about the plot not previously known to the public, including evidence of an initial al-Qaeda plan to use ten airplanes in an attack that would include FBI and CIA headquarters, as well as nuclear power plants and skyscrapers on the West Coast.
Michael Isikoff, investigative correspondent for Newsweek, discusses the latest findings by the 9-11 Commission on the September 11, 2001 terrorist plot.
