CIA Director’s Resignation
President Clinton appointed George Tenet to head the CIA in 1997, making him the third-longest-serving director in the agency’s history.
He’s reputed to be well-liked, and is credited with improving the Agency’s morale and performance. But the CIA’s two massive intelligence failures on Tenet’s watch — 9/11 and the allegation that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction — have dogged his tenure.
