D-Day: Preparing For Invasion

This Sunday, June 6, 2004 marks the 60th anniversary of D-Day. In a special On Point four-part series of stories from the men who battled on the beaches of Normandy, you will hear their descriptions of the preparation for invasion, the air attack, the sea attack, and the bloody, brutal fighting on Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword beaches. These oral histories are part of “Voices of Valor”, a new book and CD-collection by Douglas Brinkley and Ronald J. Drez.

In this radio diary, Harry Bear, Anthony Duke, Peter Masters, Duane Burns, Robert Walker, Oliver Bolin, and Roger Lovelace talk about storming the beaches of Normandy on the fateful day of June 6th, 1944.
