Keeping Hamilton’s Face On Dollar Bills

A recent ABC News poll has bad news for those who want Ronald Reagan’s face to grace the 10-dollar bill. Only 36 percent of those polled would like to see Reagan replace Alexander Hamilton on the sawbuck, and only 31 percent want him to bump FDR off the dime coin. Still, the effort to memorialize the nation’s 40th president on currency has plenty of momentum. Among the supporters is influential Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell.

Ron Chernow is the author of the recent biography, “Alexander Hamilton.” He is dismayed by the talk of Hamilton’s visage getting booted from the 10-dollar bill. In this radio diary, Ron Chernow makes the case for keeping Hamilton on the ten.
