President Bush on Bill Clinton

Earlier today in an emotional White House ceremony, President Bush heaped praise on his Democratic predecessor, Bill Clinton, four years after he vowed to “restore honor and dignity” to the White House after the Clinton years.

Bush’s remarks came at the unveiling of Bill and Hillary Clinton’s official White House portraits. The oil on canvas works were painted by Simmie Knox, who becomes the first African-American artist to have a presidential portrait hanging in the White House. Bush even lauded Hillary Clinton, a favorite target of conservatives, calling her “a woman greatly admired in our country.”

Hear an excerpt of President Bush’s remarks and follow-up analysis by On Point news analyst Jack Beatty.
