Republicans On the DNC
photo

The Democrats are enjoying the spotlight this week, and the delegates from the Democratic Party are in high spirits. You can’t walk two feet in downtown Boston without running into the red, white, and blue signs of the Democrats or an eager delegate.

Yes, the Democratic Party has taken over the city of Boston. All except for a small “war room” a few blocks away from the Fleet Center, staffed by a small group of Republican strategists. This group is standing by, monitoring events at the convention and planning a Republican response.

Tune in to hear Republicans discuss whether this week’s Democratic Convention is going to have a significant impact on their campaign and whether they think the momentum generated by the convention will last.

Also, hear WBUR’s Audie Cornish report live from the convention floor and On Point news analyst Jack Beatty gives perspective on the third-day events at the DNC.

Guests:

Ken Mehlman, senior advisor to the Bush-Cheney 2004 campaign

Matt Continetti, political columnist for The Weekly Standard

E.J. Dionne Jr., columnist, The Washington Post and author of “Why Americans Hate Politics,” and the forthcoming book “Stand Up Fight Back: Republican Toughs, Democratic Wimps, and the Politics of Revenge”

Scott Hogenson, spokesman for the Republican National Convention

Jack Beatty, On Point News Analyst and Senior Editor at The Atlantic Monthly.
