The low-carb diet craze seems to be everywhere these days. Subway has its Atkins roll-ups. Coca-Cola has just unveiled C-2, which contains half the carbohydrates of the original drink. And Auntie Anne’s has apparently figured out a way to create a carb-conscious pretzel.
California writer Kathleen Clary Miller isn’t buying into the carb-counting trend. In this radio diary, she wonders if Americans are becoming less happy by denying themselves the joy of sweets and fresh-baked bread.
