
President Bush barely made a mention of the controversy surrounding his Vietnam-era military service during an address before the National Guard Association in Las Vegas today.
“Nineteen individuals have served both in the National Guard and as President of the United States,” Bush said. “And I’m proud to be one of them.”
From there, Bush focused his comments on what he called the accomplishments of the United States in Iraq and Afghanistan. On Thursday, John Kerry will address the same National Guard Association.
