Bush’s National Guard Controversy
photo

There are fresh questions tonight over George Bush’s National Guard service during the Vietnam War. The Boston Globe is reporting that the president “fell well short” of meeting his obligation in the Air Texas National Guard. Meanwhile, tonight on CBS, former Texas House Speaker Ben Barnes is expected to discuss what role he played in getting Bush and others into the National Guard.

The Pentagon today released two dozen more pages of files relating the President’s Guard service, months after insisting there were no more records.

White House officials have insisted the president met his responsibilities and in February released hundreds of pages of his service records. A new examination by the Boston Globe of those documents concludes that Bush failed to fulfill his commitment.

Walter Robinson is editor of the Boston Globe’s investigative “Spotlight Team.” He joins us live tonight with the details.
