
The newest addition to the National Mall opened today in Washington with a procession of thousands representing Native Nations from across the country. The National Museum of the American Indian is the Smithsonian’s 15th national museum, and the first dedicated to the history and cultures of indigenous groups of the Western Hemisphere. The 219-million-dollar museum houses over 8,000 objects and is expected to host over 4 million visitors a year.
