Storied Matchup
photo

Boston’s Red Sox are in the World Series for the first time since 1986. The team that has a long history of getting so close and blowing it in the end came back from a 0-3 deficit against the Yankees to do it.

As fate would have it, vanquishing one foe has led to meeting another long-time rival. The St. Louis Cardinals are back, and they’re sure hoping history is on their side again. Who could forget the 1967 pitching duel between the Cardinals’ Bob Gibson and Sox pitcher, Jim Lonborg?

Hear the story of a storied matchup: Red Sox vs the Cardinals.

Guests:

Leigh Montville, author of “Ted Williams: The Biography of an American Hero,” former sportswriter for The Boston Globe and Sports Illustrated
