Tom Delay Taking Hits
photo

His nickname in the House of Representatives is “The Hammer.” And a new book entitled “The Hammer: Tom DeLay, God, Money and the Rise of the Republican Congress” details Delay’s surge to power.

Known for a particularly ruthless brand of politics, House Majority Leader Tom Delay is taking some heavy hits of his own lately. Opponents in the House of Representative are calling for his resignation over a series of fundraising and misuse of power scandals. Even conservative watchdog groups like Judicial Watch are now calling for the controversial House Leader to step down.

Hear a conversation on how the unlikely back bencher from the Texas Legislature has managed to take unprecedented control of the House of Representatives and whether or not he can avoid having to step down.

Guests:

Lou Dubose, former editor of the Texas Observer, co-author of two books on George W. Bush and most recently of “The Hammer: Tom DeLay, God, Money and the Rise of the Republican Congress”

Jan Reid, award winning novelist, senior writer for the Texas Monthly and co-author of “The Hammer: Tom DeLay, God, Money and the Rise of the Republican Congress.”
