1) George W. Bush and John Kerry tussled in the last of their 3 debates.
2) Dick Cheney expresses anger that Kerry mentioned the Vice President’s lesbian daughter during the debate.
3) Elections are held in Afghanistan, not without problems and protest.
4) For the first time, a bomb is set off inside Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone, killing 6.
5) The U.S. military steps up attacks on insurgents in Fallujah, following up on Prime Minister Ayad Alawi’s warning.
6) Conservative newsman Bill O’Reilly is sued for sexual harassment, and files a countersuit, saying he is being extorted.
7) Christopher Reeve’s doctor announces that the Superman actor-turned stem cell research-advocate has died at the age of 52.
