Governor McGreevey’s Farewell
photo

New Jersey Governor James McGreevey gave his farewell address today. A week from today, McGreevey will leave his post and Richard Codey will be sworn in as the state’s next governor.

Three months ago, the married McGreevey shook the political world by announcing that he was gay and had an extramarital affair with a man, who has since been identified as Golan Cipel.

In his address today, McGreevey was unapologetic and philosophical about his homosexuality, which he had kept hidden until the scandal, but he apologized for some of the decisions he had made.

Hear an excerpt from Governor James McGreevey’s farewell speech today in New Jersey.
