Harry Reid is the Democrats’ new top dog in the U.S. Senate. The 64-year-old Nevadan takes over from Senator Tom Daschle, who was defeated for re-election on November 2nd in South Dakota.

Reid takes command of a party that will have only 44 seats when the new Congress convenes in January. That’s fewer than at any time since Herbert Hoover sat in the White House.

Hear Gail Chaddock of the Christian Science Monitor take a closer look at the Democrats’s new leader in the U.S. Senate.

Guests:

Gail Chaddock, Congressional correspondent for The Christian Science Monitor.
