4) Aid worker Margaret Hassan is remembered as a tireless humanitarian after a videotape shows her being killed by her captors in Iraq.
5) The White House responds cautiously to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s assertion that he is developing a new type of nuclear weapon.
6) Sears and K-Mart merge, creating the nation’s 3rd largest retailer.
