photo

For families with loved ones serving in Iraq, the unending violence means anxious days and sleepless nights. For one Massachusetts resident, even time at the office can’t offer a distraction.

Amy Johnson is a news reporter and anchor for Boston’s NBC affiliate, WHDH. Her husband, George Huggins, is a Marine Captain currently serving in Iraq. He is on his 3rd 8-month deployment since 9/11.

With stories about Iraq dominating the newsroom for so long, it is hard for Amy to forget that her husband is in harm’s way. Meanwhile, she is pregnant with their first child.

In this radio diary, Amy Johnson talks about the challenges of being a mom-to-be and a news anchor covering a war her husband is helping to fight halfway across the world.

Guests:

Amy Johnson is a reporter and anchor for WHDH-TV, Channel 7 in Boston. Her husband, George Huggins, is Marine Captain currently serving in Iraq.
