
The independent panel investigating a “60 Minutes II” story on George W. Bush’s National Guard Service released its findings today and it was not good news for CBS. It accuses those involved with the story of showing a disregard of basic principles of journalism and of a “myopic” zeal in their desire to be first on the air.
The panel recommended that three top news executives, and a veteran producer be fired, but not the correspondent, Dan Rather.
