The virtual world of video games is big, bold, and often bloody. Last year alone, game sales topped $10 billion dollars, more than book sales or Hollywood. Whether gamers use X-Box or Playstation, they could be leading a gangland war in “Grand Theft Auto,” destroying alien invaders in “Half Life 2,” or creating entire societies in “The Sims.”

Many think that young gamers are rotting their minds or wasting their time. Not so, says John Beck, senior research fellow at the Annenberg Center of the Digital Future. The gamer generation, he says, is honing a unique set of skills that are taking the American workplace by storm. They believe in the goals they set and will persevere to achieve them. The generation of video game entertainment, he says, has shaped revolutionary new employees, executives and entrepreneurs.
