Inauguration Day Preparations

Washington, D.C. is busily preparing for President Bush’s inauguration tomorrow. Streets have been closed, manhole covers have been welded shut, and miles of steel fencing and concrete barriers have made the nation’s capital look like a city under siege.

The marching bands are rehearsing on Pennsylvania Avenue. Armies of protestors are plotting their strategies. Bush himself has geared up for his big day by crisscrossing the city, speaking to supporters at pre-inaugural parties.

Hear some sounds and voices from Washington, D.C. as the city prepares for Bush’s inauguration.
