Mega Mergers
photo

Cincinnati-based Procter & Gamble, the maker of Pampers, Bounty, Tide and Crest, has offered more than $50 billion to Boston-based Gillette, Inc. for its Sensor and Mach3 razors and the rest of its business.

The Procter & Gamble-Gillette affair is a merger of consumer products giants that are getting increasingly squeezed by retailers. Their merger is also just one example of big companies consolidating and a sign that big deals are back.

Tune in to hear what it means for consumers when huge companies merge.

Guests:

Dennis Berman, covers mergers and acquisitions for The Wall Street Journal;
Nancy Koehn, professor at Harvard Business School, an expert on business history and a consultant to many companies;
David Katz, partner at the law firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz where he specializes in mergers and acquisitions. The firm advised AT&T in its merger with SBC, which was announced this weekend. He is also adjunct professor at New York University School of Law where he teaches a course on mergers and acquisitions.

Robert Filek, partner in the mergers & acquisitions group at Price Waterhouse Coopers.
