The task of identifying the dead has become an urgent priority, with thousands of decomposing bodies piling up in makeshift morgues throughout south and Southeast Asia.
Florida technology consultant Mickey Drgon is contributing to that effort from half a world away. When she learned that families had to pour through thousands of photos of corpses on government web sites to find a loved one, she started her own website — www.tsunami-souls.org.
The site organizes all available photos by markings like tattoos or jewelry found on the bodies, helping families more easily find loved ones who may have died in the tsunami.
In this radio diary, Mickey Drgon says, like many Americans, she wants to do all she can to help tsunami victims.
