The Heart of Hotel Rwanda
photo

In April 1994, hell broke lose in Rwanda. Over the course of 100 days, the country descended into a roaming genocide that left more than 800,000 Rwandans dead while the world looked away.

There was no refuge but one: a lovely hotel in Rwanda’s capital city that manager Paul Rusesabagina turned into a desperate outpost. In it, against all odds, 1200 lives were saved.

Now, in the tradition of “Schindler’s List” and “The Killing Fields,” Hollywood is bringing this story of courage to the big screen with the new film “Hotel Rwanda.”

Hear a discussion about the new movie with director Terry George and Paul Rusesabagina, the real-life hero at the heart of the story.

Guests:

Paul Rusesabagina, former hotel manager at the Hotel Mille Collines in Kigali, Rwanda;
Terry George, director of the film “Hotel Rwanda”
