President Bush has begun his visit to Europe on what is being seen as a fence-mending tour. Today, he spoke of strengthening US and EU ties in a speech to 300 European officials and dignitaries at the ornately-gilded Concert Noble Hall in Brussels, Belgium. In his speech, Bush embraced Europe as a partner rather than a rival, and later dined with French President Jacques Chirac.
Richard Wolfe, senior White House correspondent for Newsweek, describes the 19th century concert hall where President Bush delivered his speech earlier today.
