Condoleezza Rice’s Speech at Sciences Politiques

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice today called for a healing of the rift between the United States and Europe, saying that “this is a time of unprecedented opportunity for the trans-Atlantic alliance.” Rice delivered her remarks at Sciences Politiques in Paris. France vehemently opposed the US-led invasion of Iraq two years ago.

Rice echoed the theme of spreading freedom that was central to President Bush’s inaugural address, and told America’s European allies that “our trans-Atlantic partnership will not just endure in the struggle. It will flourish, because our ties are unbreakable.”

Hear an excerpt from Condoleezza Rice’s address, and a follow-up reaction from On Point news analyst Jack Beatty.
