Reporter Jeff Gannon Resigns

Jeff Gannon, the controversial reporter for the conservative web site Talon News who gained notoriety for asking softball questions during White House press conferences, resigned from his job today after becoming the target of liberal weblogs.

Gannon had little journalistic experience, and the web site he wrote for is operated by a Texas-based Republican Party delegate. His questions during press conferences were so friendly to the Bush administration, that some have questioned whether he was a White House plant.

One of the blogs that had been calling for Gannon’s removal from press events is “Media Matters for America.” Its President and CEO David Brock, a former conservative who has since renounced elements of his past writings as untrue, talks about Jeff Gannon’s journalistic downfall.
