The Soul Rebels
photo

They started playing rhythms ranging as far afield as reggae and hip-hop in the city of all night parties, parades and marching bands. Now, the Soul Rebels have rolled it all together in a sound the Village Voice calls, “the missing link between Louis Armstrong and Public Enemy.”

Their new album is the funk and jazz of New Orleans with a hip-hop zing that cannot hide the gumbo underneath and doesn’t want to. When Mardi Gras hits New Orleans next week with Fat Tuesday, they’ll be there, with their fusion of brass and scratch.

Tune in for a celebration of brass and drums, funk and hip-hop with the Soul Rebels.

Guests:

Lumar “Big Cheeky” LeBlanc and Derrick “Oops” Moss, founding members of the Soul Rebels. Their new album is “Rebelution.”
