A Language Languishes

Pennsylvania German, a 300-year-old dialect may soon become distinct. Few children, other than the Amish, know even more than few words.

Richard Beam is the retired director of the Center for Pennsylvania German Studies at Millersville University. In this radio diary, he reminds us of the rich cultural history of this dying language.
