Conspiracy of Fools
photo

For six years during the 1990s boom, Fortune Magazine crowned Enron America’s “most innovative company.” Then in the fall of 2001, it all came tumbling down. The end was a strange combination of scandal, tragedy, and farce.

For three years New York Times investigative reporter Kurt Eichenwald dug into this business scandal, one of the biggest in the country’s history. Now, in a new book, the best-selling author of “The Informant,” goes behind the corporate walls of Enron into the center of what would become a perfect storm of power, corruption and greed.

Based on hundreds of interviews and thousands of pages of official documents, Eichenwald weaves the collapse story of Enron. It is a story of folly, Eichenwald says, that we are all but certain to see again.

Hear about the inside story of Enron’s downfall with New York Times investigative reporter, Kurt Eichenwald.

Guests:

Kurt Eichenwald, award-winning investigative reporter at The New York Times and author of “The Informant” and the new book “Conspiracy of Fools”

Jack Beatty, On Point news analyst and a senior editor at The Atlantic Monthly.
