Justice Under the Gun
photo

A defendent opens fire in an Atlanta courtroom, killing Superior Court Judge Rowland Barnes and two others. A week earlier, the husband and mother of Chicago federal judge Joan Lefkow were murdered execution-style at her own home.

Hear a conversation about the growing and unsettling incidence of violence in America’s legal system.

Guests:

Cameron McWhirter, reporter for The Atlanta Journal Constitution;

David Kennedy, director of the Center for Crime Prevention and Control at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice;

Thomas R. Schuck, president of Federal Bar Association

Patricia Jessamy, state’s attorney for Baltimore City;

Jack Beatty, On Point news analyst and a senior editor at The Atlantic Monthly.
