photo

Half the people in the U.S. diagnosed with HIV are African-American. Now, new statistics released from the Centers for Disease Control show that the number of African-Americans infected with HIV may have doubled since the early 1990s.

Journalist Jacob Levenson traveled from the rural South to the Bronx to find the answers to why AIDS is spreading through Black-America so rampantly, and what can be done to stop it.

Tune in to hear more about the story and toll of the AIDS disease on the African-American community.

Guests:

Jacob Levenson, author of “The Secret Epidemic: The Story of AIDS and Black America”

Robert Fullilove, professor of clinical health at Columbia University

Earl Ofari Hutchinson, columnist and author of “The Crisis in Black and Black.”
