
It has been a bloody and eventful week in Iraq. Yesterday, a suicide bomb attack on a funeral procession killed at least 47 in Mosul. Tensions deepened between the US and Italy over the facts surrounding the shooting death of an Italian intelligence agent by American soldiers. President Bush promised a full investigation.
And with all the bad news, there was a flicker of hope. Shia and Kurdish parliamentary blocs have announced a tentative agreement on forming a new government.
