Iraqis Agree on President

For nearly 10 weeks since its January 30th, 2005 elections, Iraq has been deadlocked in its efforts to form a new government. Now, there is a break in the political log jam. Kurdish leader Jalal Talabani got the nod as the President with Shitte Adel Abdul Mahdi and Sunni Sheik Ghazi al-Yawer as the two VPs.

New York Times Iraq correspondent Ed Wong explains if the naming of a new leadership means that Iraq’s great political impasse is finally resolved.
